Before creating the beloved Mary Margruder Katz Mysteries, Barbara Levenson spent a great deal of time in the criminal justice building in Miami, Florida in her own legal career. She began her career as a prosecutor, and later parlayed her success into heading her own criminal defense law firm. After successfully running her own firm, Barbara was elected to serve as a judge in Miami-Dade County. She has recently retired as a senior judge.
Barbara has lived in Miami for over 37 years and spends her summers in Quechee, Vermont. She spends her time writing and breeding German Shepherds with her husband. On top of that, she has finished 11 of her dogs as champions in the show ring. Her love of writing and her German Shepherds have crossed over; in the Mary Magruder Katz mystery series, the Shepherd Sam, is actually based on a mischievous dog that lives with the Levensons.
Barbara’s novels have been noticed and acclaimed as must reads by all lovers of murder mysteries, German Sheperds and Miami. To contact Barbara: barbara@barbaralevenson.com.
